Abstract: The aim of this paper is to review the mapping of Argentine poetry over the past fifty years, in order to render it suppler and more accurate to reality. The starting point will be the analysis of poetic works by Luis Martínez Cuitiño (Rosario. 1928- Buenos Aires, 2004). It will be question of identifying, in this renowned cartography, the area occupied by poetry generated under the sign of knowledge and the assumption of Hispanic tradition, especialIy focused on a strong conscience of the poem's sonorous materiality. Bearing this purpose in mind, we examine Martínez Cuitiño's three poetry books, and find in them several notions of space, decisive in order to articulate meaning and, also, to configure a Iyrical subject in tension between the "city''' and the "Kingdom". Part of this spatial construction can be assimilated to Maurice Blanchot's 'literary space'. The sonnet prevails upon all other canonical forms; with its sheer work on internal rhythms, clauses, accentual and syllabic verse, tone variations, etc., it refers such spatial notion. In short, Martinez Cuitiño's (concept of space can be defined as ubiquitous/abcent, utopian/locatable and ductile/well contrasted, which results in a foric tenseness that keeps the Iyrical subject on tenterhooks until he attains the hope of a "resurrection through the poem".
