Entre muelles y granos : el paisaje portuario como componente identitario del Área Metropolitana de Rosario

Abstract

Resumen: El presente artículo analiza críticamente la transformación del paisaje portuario del Área Metropolitana de Rosario (AMR) desde su conformación, a mediados del siglo XIX, hasta la actualidad, e indaga sobre el rol identitario de las infraestructuras portuarias como motor de cambio de su ámbito territorial. Interpretar los cambios del paisaje portuario del AMR nos posibilita identificar el rol que tienen y han tenido cada uno de sus elementos, a fin de comprender las dinámicas particulares entre el tejido urbano y el agua, en relación con las prácticas de los diversos actores involucrados en cada momento histórico. Se contribuye así, a profundizar el conocimiento del paisaje portuario metropolitano desde una mirada patrimonial del territorio, a fin de poder superar los conflictos y contradicciones entre pasado y futuro, entre lo local y lo global, logrando una mayor integración entre los diversos componentes que conforman el ambiente. Se destaca que, entre los recursos presentes en el ámbito territorial, el patrimonio es un recurso escaso y no renovable, razón por la cual su valorización es decisiva para su permanencia.

Abstract: This article critically analyses the transformation of the harbour landscape of the Metropolitan Area of Rosario (AMR) since its conformation, in the mid-nineteenth century, to the present, and inquires into the role of the harbour infrastructures as a key-component for the territory changes. The interpretation of its transformation allows us to identify the role of its elements as main elements of the region identity, in order to understand the dynamics between the urban fabric and water, in relation to the practices of the different actors involved in each historical period. It thus contributes to deepen the knowledge of the metropolitan harbour landscape from a patrimonial perspective of the territory, in order to be able to overcome conflicts and contradictions between past and future, between the local and the global, achieving greater integration between the various components that constitutes the environment. It’s emphasized that, among the resources present in the territorial area, heritage is an unusual and non-renewable resource, which is why its valorization is decisive for its permanence.
