Autoeficacia, apoyo social y bienestar psicológico en estudiantes universitarios asmáticos

Abstract

Resumen: El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar las relaciones de la autoeficacia y el apoyo social percibido con el bienestar psicológico y sus dimensiones, en universitarios asmáticos. Los participantes fueron 120 estudiantes universitarios asmáticos de la ciudad de Concepción (Chile). Los resultados mostraron que la autoeficacia presentaba mayor relación con el bienestar psicológico y sus dimensiones que el apoyo social percibido. Al comparar los participantes con mayor y menor percepción de limitaciones asociadas a su condición asmática se encontró que la única diferencia significativa se presentaba en la autoeficacia. Se proponen posibles explicaciones para los resultados obtenidos.

Abstract: The objective of this study was to determine the relationships of self-efficacy and perceived social support with psychological well-being and its dimensions in asthmatic university students. The participants were 120 asthmatic university students from the city of Concepción (Chile). The results showed that self-efficacy had a greater relationship with psychological well-being and its dimensions than perceived social support. When comparing participants with greater and lesser perception of limitations associated with their asthmatic condition, it was found that the only significant difference was in the level of self-efficacy. Possible explanations for the results obtained are proposed.
