El cuidado de personas en riesgo de suicidio inspirado en el mensaje de la esperanza cristiana

Abstract

La observación de dos líneas de estudios psicológicos sobre el suicidio, referidas respectivamente a la desesperación y a la religión, nos dará la oportunidad de poner de manifiesto la originalidad del mensaje cristiano sobre la esperanza teologal y la necesidad de brindar un cuidado inspirado en dicho mensaje a los que desesperan de la vida a tal punto que consideran la posibilidad de suicidarse. Apoyándonos en la Sagrada Escritura y en la tradición teológica, destacaremos algunos contenidos centrales de la doctrina sobre la virtud de la esperanza, como su carácter teologal, sus metas y sus motivos, que nos permitirán sugerir orientaciones específicas para el acompañamiento de estas personas, convencidos de que la respuesta al “misterio psíquico” del suicidio solo se encuentra en el Misterio de Cristo, nuestra esperanza de gloria.

The observation of two lines of psychological studies on suicide, referring respectively to despair and religion, gives us the opportunity to highlight the originality of the Christian message on theological hope and the need to provide care inspired by that message to those who despair of life to such an extent that they consider the possibility of suicide. Drawing on Sacred Scripture and theological tradition, we will highlight some central aspects of the doctrine on the virtue of hope, such as its theological nature, its goals and its motives, which will enable us to suggest specific guidelines for the accompaniment of these people. We are convinced that the answer to the “psychic mystery” of suicide can only be found in the Mystery of Christ, our hope of glory
