perspectiva. Abstract: The article searches for the place of “beauty” as a transcendental property, as well as the place of the language of images in theological thought and pastoral activity of the Church. During many centuries, “goodness” and “truth” were taken much more into account, as well as abstract, exact concepts. Yet image language and beauty have a very important place in the History of Salvation. The paper presents theological foundations: the mystery of Incarnation and sacramentality in the New Testament. This approach is relevant in today’s Image Civilization and postmodern sensitivity. Several facts in the life and tradition of the Church favor this style: the place of the humanity of Christ in spirituality, contemplation, liturgy, and the need to discern how to convey the message. Our reflection ends with some specific items on theology from this perspective. |
