Mentalización, sentimientos de soledad y problemas internalizantes durante la cuarentena por el nuevo coronavirus COVID-19

Abstract

Resumen: La cuarentena decretada pare prevenir los contagios por COVID- 19, puede incrementar los sentimientos de soledad y perturbar la salud mental durante la pandemia. La capacidad de mentalización podría ser un factor protector de este impacto psicológico. Objetivo: explorar la relación entre los niveles de mentalización, los sentimientos de soledad y problemas internalizantes durante la cuarentena. Metodología: diseño mixto descriptivo-correlacional y de alcance transversal. Se utilizaron las escalas: MentS Mentalization Scale (Dimitrijevic, Hanak, Dimitrijevic & Marjonavic, 2018), Three-Item Loneliness Scale (Hughes, Waite, Hawkley, & Cacioppo, 2004) y el Adult Self Repot (Achenbach, Dumenci, & Rescorla, 2003). La muestra analizada estuvo compuesta por 982 sujetos. Resultados y conclusiones: Quienes tienen mayores niveles de problemas internalizantes a su vez se perciben en mayor soledad (soledad y ansiedaddepresión r=.636; p=.000; soledad y quejas somáticas r=.422; p=.000) y tienen menores niveles de mentalización de uno mismo (mentalización uno mismo y ansiedad-depresión r=-.474; p=.000; mentalización uno mismo y quejas somáticas r=-.346; p=.000). Los jóvenes que aún viven con sus padres y los adultos que viven solos, son quienes sufren de mayor riesgo de soledad y sintomatología internalizante en este momento de pandemia.

Abstract: The quarantine decreed to prevent COVID-19 infections can increase feelings of loneliness and disrupt mental health during the pandemic. Mentalizing ability could be a protective factor from this psychological impact. Objective: to explore the relationship between levels of mentalization, feelings of loneliness and internalizing problems during quarantine. Methodology: cross-sectional descriptive-correlational mixed design. The scales were used: MentS Mentalization Scale (Dimitrijevic, Hanak, Dimitrijevic & Marjonavic, 2018), Three-Item Loneliness Scale (Hughes, Waite, Hawkley, & Cacioppo, 2004) and the Adult Self Repot (Achenbach, Dumenci, & Rescorla, 2003). The analyzed sample was made up of 982 subjects. Results and conclusions: Those with higher levels of internalizing problems also perceive themselves as more lonely (loneliness and anxiety-depression r = .636; p = .000; loneliness and somatic complaints r = .422; p = .000) and they have lower levels of self-mentalization (selfmentalization and anxiety-depression r = -. 474; p = .000; selfmentalization and somatic complaints r = -. 346; p = .000). Young people who still live with their parents and adults who live alone are those who suffer the greatest risk of loneliness and internalizing symptoms at this time of pandemic.
