Abstract: Viento norte (1927) by Alcides Greca (San Javier, 1889-Rosario, 1956) and the collection of short stories Naatuchic, el médico (1932) by Fausto Burgos (Medinas, 1888-San Rafael, 1953) from Tucumán, Mendoza, are tributaries of a shared interest. Within the canons of realist poetics, they deal with the representation of the indigenous in the first half of the 20th century. Both tobas and mocovíes, respectively, are represented in different records of the literary production of these two decentered writers. We understand that the value of such literary manifestations is, a priori, that of contributing to a process of documentation and self-knowledge, through their own expressive instruments: both have struggled to document the living conditions of the inhabitants of long-neglected areas. As a social denunciation of the impoverished living conditions of these two groups, the stories of Burgos and Greca become a privileged observatory for analyzing the dynamics of the links between realist poetics –understood as a system of representation and narrative procedures– and a particular moment in intellectual, cultural, and literary history. In this sense, we can argue that Greca and Burgos have contributed in a decisive way to the configuration of the literary map of the Argentine regions at a time of territorial and cultural integration.
