Una crónica sobre el deseo femenino : Elisa Lynch por Orión

Abstract

Resumen: Elisa Lynch por Orión es la primera obra sobre la figura de la madama del Paraguay, mujer del presidente Francisco Solano López. El texto, una pretendida biografía, se publica en 1870, año de la muerte de López y el final de la Guerra de la Triple Alianza, y tiene una interesante repercusión. Este trabajo pretende considerar los diversos niveles discursivos y los recursos novelísticos de los que se vale el cronista para hacer configurar el perfil de la mariscala. Para esto, se analizarán personajes femeninos que funcionan como antecedentes y contrafiguras de Lynch, y que siguen arquetipos bíblicos pero también tipos urbanos europeos (la loreta y la traviata). Mediante entrevistas y relatos enmarcados, el cronista se permite decir lo vedado: no sólo el reconocimiento de Elisa Lynch como una figura destacada y admirable, contra una opinión pública que la denigraba, sino también la inclusión en un registro balzaciano para hablar de diversas mujeres y, en suma, del deseo femenino.

Abstract: Elisa Lynch by Orión is the first work on the figure of the madama of Paraguay, the wife of President Francisco Solano López. The text, a pretended biography, is published in 1870, the year of Lopez's death and the end of the War of the Triple Alliance, and has an interesting repercussion. This work tries to consider the different discursive levels and the novelistic resources that the chronicler uses to configure the profile of the madama. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze feminine characters as Lynch antecedents and counter figures, and that follow biblical archetypes but also European urban types (loreta and traviata). Through interviews and framed stories, the chronicler allows himself to say what is forbidden: not only the recognition of Elisa Lynch as an outstanding and admirable figure, against a public opinion that denigrated her, but also the incision in a Balzacian register to talk about various women and In short, the feminine desire.
