Pestes y muerte en el Río de la Plata y Tucumán (1700-1750)

Abstract

Resumen: la primera parte del siglo XVIII ha sido poco abordada por los historiadores de la población debido a las deficiencias de las fuentes; no obstante es posible enriquecer el análisis mediante el uso de documentación no estrictamente demográfica y desde ópticas que no se limiten sólo a los padrones. Este trabajo busca aproximarse al estudio de dos grandes epidemias ocurridas en ese marco temporal, mapea su recorrido en el territorio argentino conocido en esa época, e intenta determinar su incidencia en las poblaciones que sufrieron su embate.

Abstract: The first half of the XVIII century has been scarcely addressed by historians of the local population due to the deficiencies of sources. However, it is possible to enrich the analysis through the use of documentation not strictly demographic and from angles that are not limited only to census. This work seeks to approach the study of two major epidemics occurring in this time spam, mapping its path throughout the Argentine territory and attempting to establish its incidence in the populations that suffered their attack.
