Sarmiento y el primer peronismo : entre las imágenes y las conmemoraciones: los proyectos de nación

Abstract

Resumen: Convertido en figura símbolo de la Historia Argentina, Sarmiento ofrece una imagen histórica de gran potencial para indagar y confrontar distintos proyectos de nación. Asociado a una visión liberal del pasado, sus conmemoraciones han atravesado generaciones y gobiernos, arrastrando un caudal ideológico que comenzó a ser enfrentado y cuestionado por los embates del revisionismo histórico. Frente al declive que genera hoy día su memoria, el presente artículo indaga en la visión que Perón dejó trascender sobre el prócer sanjuanino y en su lugar dentro del peronismo, entre sus adherentes, en la educación y en el ámbito militar. Planteos, todos ellos, que ayudan a entender el diferente escenario que se plantea en el peronismo post 1955.

Abstract: Turned into a symbol in Argentine History, Sarmiento is a figure of great potential taken to analyzing and confronting different nation-building projects. Often related to a liberal view of the past, commemorative celebrations have been made in his honor through different generations and successive governments, dragging with them an ideological corpus that would later be questioned by historical revisionism. Facing the present decline of his figure, this article dives into Juan Domingo Perón’s visions on Sarmiento, and the influence the latter had in Peronist ideology, the education and in the armed forces during the 1940’s. These findings will help understand the changing scenario Peronists had to face after 1955.
