Abstract

Resumen: Luego de la derrota de los ejércitos españoles en la batalla de Ayacucho el 9 de diciembre de 1824, no dio fin a la resistencia española en América del Sur. En la lejana isla de Chiloé, el por entonces, coronel Antonio de Quintanilla, con sus tropas continuaría defendiendo los intereses de la monarquía española en el continente. Su resistencia se prolongaría, por otros 13 meses hasta el 18 de julio de 1826.

Abstract: The defeat of the Spanish army in the battle of Ayacucho, December 9, 1824, didn’t put an end to the long war for the independence of the new republics of South America. In the distant island of Chiloé, national territory of the Chilean republic, a gallant and though Spanish garrison and a handful of settlers, under the leadership of the coronel Antonio de Quintanilla, go on fighting go in isolation for another thirteen months, without despond till july 18, 1826.
