Abstract: Psychological factors are one of the major themes in the study of cancer. In recent years important contributions have been made to their study, associated with cancer incidence, response to treatment, quality of life and psychological well-being (Arbizu, 2000; Baider, 2003; Olivares Crespo, 2004; Palacios Incera, 2012). In this article, we present a descriptive correlational study designed to explore and describe coping strategies and dimensions of quality of life (QOL) in female oncological patients and to examine possible relationships between these variables. Quality of life was assessed with EORTC QLQ-C30 (Arraras, Illarramendi y Valerdi,1996), specifically designed to evaluate this variable in cancer patients, and coping strategies were assessed using the CRIA-A developed by Moos (1993, validated and adapted to Argentina by Mikulic and Crespi, 2008). We found, accordance with other studies, that avoidance strategies towards the disease correlated negatively with the perceived quality of life in relation to the diagnosis of cancer. We discuss the importance of the professional psychologist in the treatment of oncological diseases
