El viaje omnipresente : su funcionalidad discursiva en los relatos culturales de la segunda modernidad

Resumen: Desde hace unos años, cuando se quiere expresar el carácter misceláneo, vasto y poco atento a ordenamientos lógicos que presenta un relato cultural, se lo denomina insistentemente como Viaje por..., Viaje a..., o utilizando otros términos de este campo semántico. Barthes demostró que “las modas”, lejos de la superficialidad que se les achacaban, manifiestan complejos procesos de significación dentro de los circuitos comunicativos de una sociedad. En el presente trabajo, se analizan señales de la funcionalidad de la metáfora del “viaje”, en discursos que necesitan anunciar una forma de “almacenamiento” apta para las avalanchas de informaciones que los inundan, la aceptación de lo contradictorio y lo ambiguo, y el registro de cambios que hacen cada etapa tan transitoria como la estadía en un hotel. Sin olvidar por otra parte, que el cronotopo ofrecido por el “relato de viajes” constituye uno de los símbolos más arcaicos y universales para representar la vida humana.

Abstract: The denominations Travels around…, A trip to... or other terms of this semantic field have been used, in the last few years, to express a certain miscellaneous, wide and illogical form of cultural narration. Barthes proved that “fashionable tendencies”, far from being superficial, showed complex processes of meaning in the communicative circuits of a society. This article analyses some signals of the functionality of the metaphor of “travel”, in discourses that need to announce a form of “storage” or “memory” for the avalanches of information that flow on us, the acceptance of the contradictory and the ambiguous, and the register of changes that make each period as transitory as the stay in a hotel. Not to mention, on the other hand, that the chronotope offered by the “travel stories” is one of the most archaic and universal symbols to represent human life.
