In te speravi: Dante, hombre de esperanza. La virtud teologal de la esperanza en la Divina Comedia

Abstract

La propuesta de este artículo es presentar algunos de los indicios más importantes de la virtud de la esperanza en las dos primeras cántigas de la Divina Comedia, el Infierno y el Purgatorio, como anticipos de lo que será luego el examen que Dante personaje deberá afrontar en la última cántiga, más precisamente en el cielo estrellado, frente a los apóstoles Pedro, Santiago y Juan, acerca de las virtudes teologales. El inicio del camino y del rescate divino que acaece en la selva oscura cobra sentido a la luz de las virtudes teologales, particularmente la esperanza. Lo que sucede en Paraíso XXIII-XXVII devela los indicios que Dante fue dejando como rastro en el Infierno y el Purgatorio e incluso en la última cántiga, en los cantos que preceden al Cielo estrellado.

The purpose of this article is to present some of the most important signs of the virtue of hope in the first two canticles of the Divine Comedy, Inferno and Purgatorio, as foreshadowing of the examination that Dante, the protagonist, will later face in the final canticle, specifically in the sphere of the fixed stars, before the apostles Peter, James, and John, regarding the theological virtues. The beginning of the journey and the divine rescue that takes place in the dark wood acquires meaning in light of the theological virtues, particularly hope. What unfolds in Paradise XXIII –XXVII reveals the traces that Dante left as a trail in Inferno and Purgatorio, and even in the final canticle, in the cantos that precede the starry heavens.
