«¿Quiénes son mis hermanos?» (Mt 12,48). Consideraciones sobre la hermandad en el Nuevo Testamento

Abstract

A partir de la consideración de textos relevantes de las distintas tradiciones del Nuevo Testamento, el artículo propone que el concepto de “hermandad” utilizado allí no es unívoco, sino que recibe distintos matices de acuerdo con el proceso de conformación de la identidad de las primeras comunidades cristianas, sus nece- sidades y su relación con el entorno social en que vivían. La metáfora fraterna, que sirvió para expresar muchos de los ideales del cristianismo naciente, debe ser constantemente repensada para que pueda ser significativa en las comunidades cristianas actuales.

Based on an examination of relevant texts from the different traditions of the New Testament, this article proposes that the concept of “siblingship” used therein is not univocal but rather takes on different nuances according to the process of identity formation of the early Christian communities, their needs,and their relationship with the social environment in which they lived. The sibling metaphor, which served to express many of the ideals of the emerging Christianity, must be constantly reassessed so that it can be meaningful in today’s Christian communities.
