Iglesia y vivienda en Argentina: enfoques y prácticas desde la Gran Colecta Nacional (1919) hasta la actualidad

Abstract

Son múltiples las iniciativas tanto del punto de vista orgánico institucional como de grupos, organizaciones e individuos, denominados de inspiración cristiana, que se han destacado especialmente en involucrarse en la temática tanto desde la inter- vención directa como desde el punto de vista reflexivo. Sin embargo, se constata la ausencia de una recopilación ordenada de las mismas y un análisis de conjunto. Por lo tanto, el objetivo principal de este estudio es contribuir a una inicial sis- tematización de las realizaciones y propuestas que se han hecho en ese campo. Asimismo, se procuró captar las motivaciones, debates y criterios que subyacen a esas actividades, cotejadas con las diversas concepciones sobre la vivienda en el conjunto de la sociedad que van discurriendo inicialmente desde perspectivas sanitaristas y moralizantes a perspectivas más integrales conectadas con el hábitat, el ordenamiento de los territorios, e insertas en el derecho a la ciudad

The ecclesial’s involvement in Argentina regarding the housing problem, or what is known as popular or social housing, has a long history throughout the 20th cen- tury. Numerous initiatives by the Catholic Church itself, as well as by affiliated groups, organizations, and individuals, have been particularly noteworthy in ad- dressing this issue, both through direct intervention and from a reflective perspec- tive. However, there is a clear lack of an organized compilation of these initiatives and a comprehensive analysis. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to contribute to an initial systematiza- tion of the achievements and proposals made in this field. It also seeks to capture the motivations, debates, and criteria underlying these activities, comparing them with the diverse conceptions of housing in society as a whole. These conceptions have evolved from initially health-based and moralistic perspectives to more ho- listic ones linked to habitat, territorial planning, and integrated into the right to the city.
