Estados Unidos y China. “Puja de titanes” y un orden internacional en transición

Abstract

El enorme crecimiento que ha experimentado la República Popular China durante los últimos años se ha convertido en uno de los principales vectores de cambio de las Relaciones Internacionales, generando diversos análisis respecto de la presencia de un nuevo orden bipolar entre la potencia asiática y los Estados Unidos. En este contexto de incertidumbre, agravado por la pandemia de coronavirus, cabe preguntarnos hacia dónde se dirige el orden internacional, y en este sentido, si continúa siendo unipolar o si ya podría ser caracterizado como bipolar/multipolar. Asimismo, resulta pertinente reflexionar acerca de las posibilidades reales de que un conflicto armado entre las dos mayores potencias del mundo tenga lugar en los próximos años, y sobre el papel que adquiere la región latinoamericana en este contexto.

The vast growth the People’s Republic of China has experienced during recent years has become one of the main vectors of change in International Relations, generating several analyzes regarding the presence of a new bipolar order between the Asian power and the United States. In this context of uncertainty, worsened by the coronavirus pandemic, we can ask ourselves about where the international order is heading to, and in this sense, if it continues being unipolar or if it could now be characterized as bipolar/multipolar. Likewise, it is relevant to consider the real possibilities of an armed conflict between the two major powers in the world taking place in the next few years, and the role of the Latin American region in this context.
