Iván Vila Echagüe : economía, justicia social y la recepción de W. Röpke en Argentina

Abstract

Resumen: Los escritos de Iván Vila Echagüe se centran en la relación entre la justicia social y el quehacer económico y empresarial. El artículo desarrolla los aportes centrales de su reflexión, en el intento por asumir y aplicar las ideas de la Economía Social de Mercado –en especial de W. Röpke– en la Argentina, e intenta mostrar su rol en los debates entre los demócratas cristianos, polemizando tanto con representantes de un catolicismo liberal, como con aquellos de mayor sensibilidad hacia lo social. Por último, se establecen algunas precisiones sobre el planteamiento económico social de Vila Echagüe, en particular, el rol que se debe dar al Estado dentro de la organización económica. Unido a ello, se revisa críticamente hasta qué punto su reflexión puede ser asimilada con las llamadas ideas económicas “liberales”.

Abstract: Iván Vila Echagüe’s writings focus on the relationship between social justice and economic and business affairs. The article develops the central contributions on his thinking, in the attempt to assume and apply the ideas of Social Market Economy –especially W. Röpke– in Argentina. Also, it tries to show its role in the debates among the Christian Democrats, in which Vila Echagüe used to confront both with representatives of liberal Catholicism, and those of greater sensitivity towards social matters. Finally, the article indicates some precisions on Vila Echagüe’s social economic approach, in particular, the role that should be given to the Government within an economic organization. In addition, the article questions to what extent the author’s thinking can be assimilated with the so-called "liberal" economic ideas.
