Abstract: The purpose of this article is to point out that both figure and method are mediations from the original source of creativity. They are so inasmuch they are recognized as such by themselves and in their paradoxical relationship. Considering this purpose, the article portrays in the first place how figure and method are reciprocally implied as mediations, based on two texts of Hans Urs von Balthasar. Secondly, the article shows how life is the source, and paradox the link between both mediations, based on textual analysis of two founding theologians of theological aesthetics: St. Augustine and Hildegard of Bingen. Finally, the article states that mediation and paradox form the dialogical imagery of the just founded (April 2007) Latin American Association of Literature and Theology. |
