Alberdi y Esquiú : dos hombres y una Constitución

Abstract

Resumen: La idea central de este trabajo es analizar el pensamiento de dos intelectuales fundamentales al momento de la organización nacional en Argentina. A partir del análisis de LasBases de Juan Bautista Alberdi y los Sermones Patrióticos de Fray Mamerto Esquiú, se advierten diferencias -algunas muy evidentes e importantes y otras no tanto-, pero también que ambos buscaron privilegiar caminos de entendimiento y pacificación, por sobre sus preferencias ideológicas y deseos más íntimos, para lograr superar los problemas que habían generado guerras civiles desde la independencia y la imposibilidad de sanción de una constitución.

Abstract: The central idea of this paper is to analyse the thought of two intellectuals who played a fundamental role at the time of organizing the Argentine nation. Based on the analysis of Juan Bautista Alberdi's Las Bases (The Bases) and Friar Mamerto Esquiú's Sermones Patrióticos (Patriotic Sermons), it is possible to observe some differences- some of which are evident and significant, others, not so much- as well as the fact that both authors sought to favour paths of understanding and pacification over their own ideological preferences and intimate desires, in order to overcome the problems that have given rise to civil wars since independence as well as the impossibility of passing a constitution.
