El significado teológico permanente de Medellín

Abstract

Resumen: La Segunda Conferencia General del Episcopado Latinoamericano, realizada a mediados de 1968 en Medellín/Colombia, ha sido comprendida como un caso único de recepción continental del Concilio Vaticano II en medio de los clamores y esperanzas del pueblo latinoamericano y caribeño. Los Documentos Finales de Medellín, de manera particular los de Justicia, Paz y Pobreza, han marcado prioridades eclesiales y pastorales para la región a lo largo de este medio siglo. El significado teológico permanente de Medellín, 50 años después, puede verse en relación con estos y otros temas, pero también y quizás fundamentalmente en conexión con el método implementado por esta conferencia: el método ver-juzgar y obrar, asumido por la constitución pastoral Gaudium et spes, retomado por Medellín y generalizado en la teología y la pastoral latinoamericana. La lectura actual de los signos de los tiempos ligada a este modo de hacer teología requiere una actualización y ampliación de los problemas a discernir, como se propone en este texto.

Abstract: The Second Conference of the Latin American Bishops held in mid- 1968 in Medellín, Colombia, has been regarded as a unique case of Second Vatican Council continental reception in the midst of the claims and hopes of Latin American and Caribbean pcople. The Final Documents of Medellín, in particular those about Justice, Peace and Poverty, have influenced a lot on ecclesial and pastoral priorities for the región along this half ecntury. From this perspective, the permanent theological meaning of Medellín, 50 years Inter, can be thought in relarion to these and other topics, but also and perhaps primarily in tonnection with the method implemented by this Conference: Ver. fuzgar, Actuar $upported by the pastoral Constitution Gaudium etspes, taken up by Medellín and generalized in Latin American theology and pastoral praxis. The present reading of the signs of the time llnkcd to this way of doing theology requires an update and expansión of the subjeets to dlscern, as ¡t is proposed in this text.
