Evolución demográfica en Lleida desde la Guerra de la Independencia hasta el final del trienio liberal

Abstract

Resumen: En el siglo XVIII se produjo un considerable aumento poblacional en todo el territorio español y, en especial, en el catalán. La ciudad de Lleida no fue ajena a este proceso, pero a partir de fi nales del mismo siglo por razones políticas (inestabilidad), económicas (crisis de subsistencia y malas cosechas) y militares (constantes guerras desde el 1793 hasta el 1814) se invirtió esta dinámica, dando lugar a una estabilización a principios del siglo XIX. Gracias a los datos archivísticos se puede llevar a cabo el objetivo central de esta investigación, o sea, el de establecer la dinámica demográfi ca de la ciudad de Lleida desde la Guerra de la Independencia hasta el fi nal del Trienio liberal.

Abstract: In the century XVIII a considerable population increase took place in the whole Spanish territory and, especially, in the Catalan. Lleida’s city was not foreign to this process, but from the end of the same century for political reasons (instability), economic (crisis of subsistence an bad crops) and military (constant wars from 1793 until 1814) this dynamics was inverted, giving place to a stabilization at the beginning of the century XIX. Thanks to the information archivist it’s possible to lead to end the central aim of this investigation, of establishing the demographic dynamic of Lleida’s city from the Peninsular War up to the end of the liberal Triennium.
