Resumen :	Abstract: Apart from its obvious linking function between the Old and the New Worlds, the presence of the vessels in Río de la Plata, with their long stays at port, is a driven element for urban life on which this event influences in many ways. The work tries both to rebuild said presence in Buenos Aires and Montevideo during the XVIII Century, before the creation of Río de la Plata viceroyalty, and to contribute with some elementary data on each of the registered vessels.
