Resumen :	Abstract: This article makes reference to the evolution of the public policies carried out by conservative governments in Santa Fe province, in the period 1880-1912, in connection with the technical agencies the aim of which was to control any disposition of fi scal land; and the train service. Offi cial attempts to have precise information on the development of the economic growth through the Statistics Office, are also studied. In this way, an original angle of opinion is framed regarding the participation granted to the State in the process that placed Santa Fe among the most progressive regions worldwide.
