Generatividad y abuelidad en la provincia de Entre Ríos

Abstract

Resumen: El presente trabajo tiene como primer objetivo describir las características de la generatividad (positiva y dudosa) en una muestra de abuelos/as de Entre Ríos y determinar si existen diferencias significativas según sexo en la generatividad. El segundo objetivo consiste en evaluar la relación que existe entre las características de la generatividad y el estrés en la función de cuidado y educación de los nietos. Se trabajó sobre una muestra no probabilística, intencional, conformada por 151 sujetos, de los cuales 49% son hombres y 51% son mujeres. Dichos participantes eran abuelos con edades comprendidas entre los 50 y los 87 años, de Entre Ríos. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron: la Escala de Generatividad de Loyola adaptada para abuelos y la Escala de Competencias Emocionales de Abuelos y Abuelas (ECEA). Los resultados indican que la generatividad (dudosa y positiva) se encuentra presente en la muestra obtenida; sin embargo, no se observan diferencias estadísticamente significativas según sexo. Asimismo, las dos dimensiones de la generatividad correlacionaron de manera inversa con el estrés en la función de cuidado y educación de los nietos/as.

Abstract: The first objective of this work is to describe the characteristics of generativity (positive and doubtful) in a sample of grandparents from Entre Ríos and to determine if there are significant differences according to sex in generativity. The second objective is to evaluate the relationship between the characteristics of generativity and stress in the role of care and education of grandchildren. We worked on a non-probabilistic, intentional sample, made up of 151 subjects, of which 49% are men and 51% are women. These participants were grandparents between the ages of 50 and 87, from Entre Ríos. The instruments used were: the Loyola Generativity Scale adapted for grandparents and the Grandparents and Grandmothers Emotional Competencies Scale (ECEA). The results indicate that generativity (doubtful and positive) is present in the sample obtained; however, no statistically significant differences were observed according to sex. Likewise, the two dimensions of generativity were inversely correlated with stress in the care and education function of grandchildren.
