Pedro José Agrelo y el inicio de la redacción de El Correo Ministerial de Paraná (1821-1822)

Abstract

Resumen: En 1821 el letrado Pedro José Agrelo inició en Entre Ríos la redacción de un periódico titulado El Correo Ministerial de Paraná. El mismo informó sobre las acciones del gobierno provincial de Lucio N. Mansilla y las resoluciones de la Convención Constituyente de Entre Ríos. La fuente se encuentra poco estudiada, pero su análisis podría aportar conocimiento sobre la prensa entrerriana del momento, su editor y los lenguajes políticos circulantes entre las provincias donde era recepcionado el periódico. Se entiende que el periódico buscaba presentar al gobierno entrerriano como garante del orden jurídico e institucional local por lograr la sanción del Estatuto Provincial. Al mismo tiempo, ello permitía que su redactor, Agrelo, pudiera fortalecer su posición en la dirigencia provincial y acercarse a la de Buenos Aires.

Abstract: In 1821 the lawyer Pedro José Agrelo began in Entre Ríos the writing of a newspaper entitled El Correo Ministerial de Paraná. It reported on the actions of the provincial government of Lucio N. Mansilla and the resolutions of the Entre Ríos Constituent Convention. The source is little studied, but its analysis could provide knowledge about the Entre Rios press of the moment, its editor and the political languages circulating between the provinces where the newspaper was received. It is understood that the newspaper sought to present the Entre Ríos government as a guarantor of the legal and institutional order to achieve the Provincial Statute, while its editor Agrelo could strengthen his position in the provincial leadership and get closer to that of Buenos Aires.
