De donum vitae a dignitas personae : el arduo camino de la Iglesia en defensa del ser humano

Abstract

El presente artículo fue presentado durante el Congreso Nacional de Bioética “La vida en su momento inicial”, realizado el pasado mes de abril en Posadas, Misiones, organizado por el Instituto de Bioética de la Universidad Católica de Santa Fe y auspiciado por el Instituto de Bioética de la Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina. El autor profundizará en el análisis de dos documentos de la Iglesia que versan sobre la defensa del ser humano y de su dignidad constitutiva: la instrucción Donum vitae (1987) y la instrucción Dignitas personae (2008), presentando el vínculo que existe entre ellas y que permanece incluso a través de los años. Se concluirá que la misión actual de la Iglesia no sólo es la de proponer a sus fieles la doctrina en temas específicos como la Bioética, sino de llegar al corazón de todo hombre de buena voluntad.

This article was presented at the National Congress of Bioethics “Life at its starting point” held last April in Posadas, Misiones, Argentina, which was organized by the Bioethics Institute of the Catholic University of Santa Fe and promoted by the Bioethics Institute of the Argentine Pontifical Catholic University. The author analyzes in depth two Church documents which deal with the defense of human beings and their constitutive dignity: the Donum vitae (1987) and the Dignitas personae instructions (2008), by presenting the link existing between them which holds throughout the years. The conclusion arrived at is that the current mission of the Church is not only to impart to the faithful the doctrine of the Church on specific issues such as Bioethics, but to get to the heart of all men of good will.
