Pensar la libertad, hacer la libertad: una aproximación al discurso legitimador del activismo catalanista de Buenos Aires. 1900-1940

Abstract

Resumen: Proponemos una mirada compleja sobre la conformación del discurso que configuró el imaginario de los catalanes de América de Buenos Aires entre 1910 y 1940. Estableceremos la presencia de la categoría de libertad en la línea editorial de su órgano de prensa, la revista Ressorgiment. Estudiaremos la manera en que la experiencia democrática argentina favoreció la construcción dialéctica del concepto de libertad en el discurso del grupo. Indagaremos en la manera en que la experiencia migratoria determinó la reformulación teórica de su pensamiento y marcó los rasgos distintivos de su actividad política. A partir del catalanismo porteño reflexionaremos, desde una perspectiva cultural, sobre las relaciones entre identidad nacional e ideales democráticos en el espacio iberoamericano contemporáneo.

Abstract: This article analyzes the construction of the discourse that established the imaginary of the Catalans of Latin America in Buenos Aires, between 1910 and 1940. We identify the presence of the theoretical category of freedom in the editorial line taken by its mouthpiece, the magazine Ressorgiment. We examine whether the Argentine democratic experience favored the dialectical construction of the notion of freedom in the group’s discourse, and investigate the way in which the migratory experience determined the theoretical reformulation of their thinking and marked the distinguishing features of their political activity. Based on the Catalanism of Buenos Aires we will reflect, from a cultural perspective, on the relations between national identity and democratic ideals in contemporary Ibero-America.
