Resumen : Abstract: Thinking about the young people as subjects of labour and social policies is a challenge that has mobilised worldwide governments since relatively recent times. Due to the urgency and seriousness of the problems of employment and social inclusion, the concept of youth has managed to be included in the public agendas and has positioned in different social environments (scholar, cultural, business). This was the case of Argentina during the 90’s. However, it seems that the problem has broadly exceeded the policies. The main specific policies applied during the 90’s in Argentina to assist the problem of employment and youth educational backwardness are revised and assessed in this paper. In particular, we try to identify and assess the used institutional tools, the level of reached cover and the main results generated by the policies carried out by the National State in this field (new labour regulations, education reform, programmes of employment and training and programmes of school scholarships). In this case, the empirical investigations on these topics were done from the analysis of documentary sources and the consult to qualified informers.
