Impacto social y legislativo del Informe Warnock : consecuencias de una visión utilitarista del embrión

Abstract

El presente trabajo surge del análisis del Informe Warnock y muestra cómo el Informe influyó en diferentes legislaciones, al tiempo que describe su impacto y la nueva forma de ver y conocer, a partir de éste, ciertos temas por parte del ciudadano común. Se analizará cada uno de los temas, por demás controvertidos, planteados en el Informe, entre los que se pueden enumerar los siguientes: inicio de la vida humana, tratamientos de fertilización asistida, donantes anónimos, criopreservación de embriones y alquiler de vientres. El Informe Warnock fue tomado como referencia para la redacción de distintas normas legales en todo el mundo. De allí su trascendencia, que marca hasta hoy un antes y un después en la sociedad científica en general y en la sociedad civil en particular.

This paper is the outcome of the analysis of the Warnock Report and it shows the influence the Report had on different legislations, and at the same time, it describes its impact and the new form certain issues are viewed and understood by the ordinary man. Each of the highly controversial issues referred to in the Report shall be analyzed. Among them, it is possible to mention the following: the beginning of human life, assisted fertilization treatments, anonymous donors, embryo cryopreservation and womb leasing. The Warnock Report was taken as a reference to draft different laws all over the world. Hence its significance that, up to now, marks a before and after status of the scientific community generally and of the civil society in particular.
