El amor y la amistad en la ontología normativa de Platón

Abstract

Resumen: En su análisis del amor y la amistad Platón y Aristóteles mues-tran claramente la divergencia de sus métodos filosóficos, pues mientras Aristóteles tiene muy en cuenta los phainómena y los éndoxa de la sociedad y la cultura a la que pertenece, Platón no duda en invertir las opiniones más acreditadas en nombre de una ontología normativa que prescribe cómo debe-rían ser las cosas en lugar de aceptar el mundo verosímil de las experiencias habituales. El amor se convierte así para él en una fuerza capaz de transfor-mar el mundo de sombras en el que vivimos y en una pasión que debe cons-tituir el fundamento de la más profunda amistad.

Abstract: In their analysis of love and friendship, Plato and Aristotle ex-hibit a great divergence in their philosophical methods. Aristotle takes into account the cultural phainomena and endoxa of his own society, while Plato does not hesitate to invert the most authorised opinions on behalf of a nor-mative ontology which prescribes how things should be instead of accepting the plausible world of usual experiences. So love becomes in Plato’s thought a force capable of transforming the world and a passion which should consti-tute the fundament of the most profound friendship.
