Abstract: Friendship is a topic usually associated with the so-called "teleo-logical" ethics. However, she has received attention from Kant and in a pref-erential way. If he had already given classes on friendship around the 1780s, in Doctrine of Virtue (Tugendlehre) of The Metaphysics of Mor-als, published towards the end of the 18th century, the subject takes on a sys-tematic and conclusive place in the Doctrine of the Elements. This work ex-plores the significance of this place for the Kantian notion of friendship, a significance that is not limited to reasons of an expository order. This is gen-erally true for all elements of the Kantian system; but here, in particular, I maintain that friendship, as a Conclusion of the Doctrine of the Elements, collects in deontological terms, but at the same time ideal, all the ethical ten-sion that comes from this Doctrine.
