Acerca de la posibilidad y de la viabilidad de la civilización capitalista : Adam Smith y Henri Bergson

Abstract

Resumen: El trabajo compara el lugar que ocupa la pregunta sobre la posibilidad y la viabilidad de la civilización capitalista en los proyectos filosóficos de Adam Smith y de Henri Bergson. Se reconstruye cómo, y hasta qué punto, estos dos autores conciben el tránsito entre sociedades humanas particulares y una sociedad humana de alcance mundial mediada por la relación mercantil; qué esperanzas y peligros consideran que se ciernen en aquel proceso, y si examinan (o no) necesario y pertinente integrar a sus respectivos proyectos filosóficos la pregunta acerca de las condiciones y circunstancias históricas que pueden hacer posible la realización de las promesas de la modernidad.

Abstract: This paper compares the place occupied by the question of the possibility and viability of capitalist civilization in the philosophical projects of Adam Smith and Henri Bergson. It is reconstructed how, and to what extent, these two authors conceive the transition between particular human societies and a worldwide human society of world mediated by the commercial relationship; what hopes and dangers do they consider to be looming in that process, and if they examine (or not) necessary and pertinent to integrate into their respective philosophical projects the question about the historical conditions and circumstances that can make the realization of the promises of modernity possible.
