La ética de la “hospitalidad lingüística” y la práctica de la traducción según Paul Ricœur

Abstract

Resumen: La traducción es el pilar de la cultura y el horizonte de formación ética de la humanidad. Ricoeur hace dialogar las prácticas de traducción con la dimensión de la hospitalidad lingüística, en un pequeño trabajo titulado Sobre la traducción, publicado en 2004. Traducir es difundir un mensaje de un idioma a otro. El traductor es, por tanto, una especie de intermediario entre el autor y el lector. En este camino, el traductor realiza un trabajo de memoria y de mediación: debe servir, simultáneamente, al extranjero (al trabajo original, al idioma de ese trabajo y a su autor) y al lector receptor. Dado que la traducción es un principio general de apertura a una pluralidad de discursos, Ricoeur brinda una base práctica a la hospitalidad lingüística y una visión ética de la traducción que garantiza la extrañeza del yo para acoger mejor al otro.

Abstract: Translation is the core of culture and the horizon of the ethical education of humanity. Ricoeur makes translation practices dialogue with the dimension of linguistic hospitality, in a small work entitled On translation, published in 2003. To translate is to spread a message from one language to another. The translator is, therefore, a kind of intermediary between the author and the reader. In this way, the translator performs both a memory work and a mediation: he must simultaneously serve the foreigner (the original work, the language of that work and its author) and the receiving reader. Since translation is a general principle of openness to a plurality of speeches, Ricoeur provides a practical basis for linguistic hospitality and an ethical vision of translation that guarantees the strangeness of the self to better accommodate the other
