Resumen: La hospitalidad en torno a la mesa ha sido objeto de páginas brillantes de autores tales como Homero, Proust o Dinesen, entre otros. La literatura bíblica es abundante al respecto. Al partir el pan se produce una suerte de hierofanía, es decir, de manifestación de lo divino. En la Argentina, esto se da en forma paradigmática en torno al mate.

Abstract: The hospitality around the table has been the subject of brilliant pages by authors such as Homer, Proust or Dinesen, among others. Biblical literature is abundant in this regard.
