Áreas patrimoniales urbano-portuarias: retos y oportunidades para afrontar su preservación a partir del barrio Puerto de Mar del Plata

Abstract

Los procesos de transformación de los sectores portuarios evidencian la necesidad de indagar estrategias para preservar su patrimonio singular. Los puertos determinaron peculiares sitios adyacentes que se configuraron en torno a su actividad y conformaron espacios con características socioculturales, arquitectónicas y urbanas que ameritan una especial apreciación. La concepción de áreas de valor patrimonial se reconoce como una estrategia posible y practicada para avanzar en el amparo de los bienes materiales e inmateriales que identifican a este tipo de sectores. Sin embargo, son escasos los estudios y acciones vinculados a la delimitación de áreas urbano- portuarias. El barrio Puerto de Mar del Plata presenta rasgos distintivos para emprender este abordaje, en un marco de relevante dinámica de cambios junto a la ausencia de protecciones específicas. Por ello, mediante una metodología cualitativa, la indagación de fuentes escritas y gráficas junto con relevamientos in situ, se avanza en la definición de fragmentos de interés a través del análisis de variables socio-históricas y materiales, para progresar en protecciones apropiadas.

The transformation processes in the port sectors show the need to explore strategies to preserve their unique heritage. The ports determined peculiar adjacent sites that were configured around their activity and formed spaces with socio-cultural, architectural and urban characteristics that deserve special appreciation. The conception of areas of heritage value is recognized as a possible and practiced strategy to advance in the protection of the tangible and intangible assets that characterize this type of sector. However, there are few studies and actions related to the delimitation of urban-port areas. The Port neighborhood of Mar del Plata presents distinctive features to undertake this approach, in a framework of relevant dynamics of changes together with the absence of specific protections. Therefore, by means of a qualitative methodology, the investigation of written and graphic sources together with in situ surveys, progress is made in the definition of fragments of interest through the analysis of socio-historical and material variables, in order to progress in appropriate protections.
