Dialéctica de la Ilustración o ilustración de la dialéctica

Abstract

El capítulo analiza la relación entre la concepción hegeliana de la Ilustración en la Fenomenología del espíritu y la reinterpretación propuesta por Horkheimer y Adorno en Dialéctica de la Ilustración. Se reconstruye la dialéctica entre Ilustración y Fe dentro de la figura de la conciencia pura en la sección “El espíritu extrañado de sí: la cultura”. A partir de esta reconstrucción se examina el estatuto lógico de la crítica ilustrada y su relación con la noción hegeliana de negación determinada. El trabajo sostiene que la crítica desarrollada por Horkheimer y Adorno reproduce, en cierto sentido, la fase tardía de la Ilustración analizada por Hegel, particularmente en la forma de una racionalidad instrumental vinculada al utilitarismo.

This chapter examines the relationship between Hegel’s conception of Enlightenment in the Phenomenology of Spirit and the interpretation proposed by Horkheimer and Adorno in Dialectic of Enlightenment. It reconstructs the dialectical relation between Enlightenment and Faith within the figure of pure consciousness in the section “Spirit Alienated from Itself: Culture.” On this basis, the paper analyzes the logical status of Enlightenment critique and its connection with Hegel’s notion of determinate negation. The chapter argues that the critique developed by Horkheimer and Adorno reproduces, in a certain sense, the late phase of Enlightenment already analyzed by Hegel, particularly in the form of instrumental rationality associated with utilitarianism.
