Entre la ciencia y la conciencia: el DGP a la luz de la dignidad humana

Abstract

El vertiginoso avance de las tecnologías reproductivas ha desencadenado una profunda crisis ética en torno al inicio de la vida humana, forzando una reevaluación radical del valor del embrión, el sentido de la procreación y los límites de la intervención técnica. En medio de este complejo escenario, la Congregación para la Doctrina de la Fe del Vaticano emitió en 2008 la instrucción Dignitas Personae, un pronunciamiento magisterial clave. Este documento surgió como una respuesta necesaria a la aceleración científica y a los cambios socioculturales y legislativos ocurridos desde Donum Vitae (1987), buscando ofrecer una guía moral firme frente a un contexto de creciente desvalorización de la vida humana.

The dizzying advance of reproductive technologies has triggered a profound ethical crisis surrounding the beginning of human life, forcing a radical re-evaluation of the value of the embryo, the meaning of procreation, and the limits of technical intervention. Amidst this complex scenario, the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith issued the instruction Dignitas Personae in 2008, a key magisterial pronouncement. This document emerged as a necessary response to the scientific acceleration and the socio-cultural and legislative changes that had occurred since Donum Vitae (1987), seeking to ofer a firm moral guide against a growing context of devaluation of human life.
