Cristianismo Popular en América Latina: una visión comprensiva latinoamericana

Abstract

Las limitaciones de una visión teórica eurocéntrica, acerca de lo religioso, es incapaz de comprender adecuadamente los fenómenos de las religiones populares, y especialmente al cristianismo popular latinoamericano. En esta contribución el autor se ubica en el contexto de las aproximaciones sociológicas al fenómeno, por tanto, aunque muy relevante, no abordaremos el debate teológico ni filosófico al respecto.

Es necesario avanzar en una perspectiva latinoamericanista, comprensiva y decolonial, para para entender las manifestaciones y significaciones de las múltiples expresiones del cristianismo popular latinoamericano.

The limitations of a Eurocentric theoretical view of religion make it impossible to adequately understand the phenomena of popular religions, especially popular Latin American Christianity. In this contribution, the author places himself in the context of sociological approaches to the phenomenon; therefore, although highly relevant, we will not address the theological or philosophical debate on the subject. It is necessary to advance a Latin Americanist, comprehensive, and decolonial per-spective in order to understand the manifestations and meanings of the multiple expressions of Latin American popular Christianity
