La cultura monástica ante la naturaleza humana : análisis de La Regla de San Benito

Abstract

Resumen: La Regla de San Benito ha cobrado cierta notoriedad en los tiempos actuales ya que se están realizando diferentes interpretaciones, incluso desde ámbitos intelectuales que no abrevan en el Cristianismo. Asimismo, referentes culturales en el interior de la Iglesia Católica la han recuperado para actualizarla y contextualizarla hacia terrenos que exceden los muros estrictamente monásticos. Estas novedosas propuestas hermenéuticas lograron que el escrito del santo de Nursia fuese revisitado, y suscitaron el interés para generar lecturas alternativas. Las líneas siguientes son fruto de estas iniciativas, cuya particularidad reside en la aplicación de las categorías económicas críticas del Desarrollo a Escala Humana de Manfred Max-Neef et al., a la regla monacal benedictina.

Abstract: The Rule of St. Benedict has gained certain notoriety in the present times, since different interpretations are being made, even from intellectual spheres that do not draw from Christianity. Likewise, cultural references within the Catholic Church have recovered it in order to update it and contextualize it in areas that go beyond the strictly monastic walls. These novel hermeneutical proposals have succeeded in having the writings of the saint of Nursia revisited, and have aroused interest in generating alternative readings. The following lines are the fruit of these initiatives, whose particularity lies in the application of the critical economic categories of the Human Scale Development of Manfred Max-Neef et al. to the Benedictine monastic rule.
