Aproximación a la lectura de La verdad los hará libres, desde algunos de sus principales núcleos temáticos

Abstract

Resumen: El presente artículo intenta acercar a la lectura de la obra La verdad los hará libres, que la Facultad de Teología de la Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina, ha realizado a pedido de la Conferencia Episcopal Argentina. Esta monumental obra que implicó a más de treinta autores y demandó cinco años de tra bajo, tiene su historia y se presenta como un texto desafiante y complejo. El tema central gira en torno a la Iglesia Católica en la espiral de violencia en la Argentina entre 1966 y 1983. La sensibilidad que provoca esta trágica etapa de la historia argentina, en la que han muerto tantas personas, víctimas del accionar de grupos guerrilleros como del Terrorismo de Estado sistemáticamente instaurado por las FFAA, ha tenido a la Iglesia católica, en todos sus estamentos, como a uno de sus actores principales. Si bien los estudios sobre esta temática son innumerables y probablemente inabarcables desde hace ya varias décadas, la Iglesia católica como institución ʺseʺ debía y ʺleʺ debía a la entera sociedad argentina ʺalgunaʺ toma de posición frente a los hechos, a través de un estudio serio, reflexivo y autocrítico del lugar que implicó a la Iglesia entera en esta espiral de violencia. La desclasificación de los Archivos eclesiásticos en varios de sus niveles de gobierno dentro de la etapa estudiada, es uno de los aportes que ha posibilitado una relectura crítica de acontecimientos, instituciones y personas, en particular de la propia Conferencia Episcopal Argentina. Una obra de este calibre y magnitud justifica una ʺaproximación a la lecturaʺ. Lo hemos intentado siguiendo algunas opciones a través de dos vías: un elenco de ejes temáticos (1-4), y una selección de textos guía (5), que sirvan de estímulo a los lectores que pueden tal vez sentirse atraídos a recorrer con más profundidad el estudio y análisis de la obra.

Abstract: The present article tries to bring closer to the reading of the work The truth will make them free, that the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical University of Catholic in Argentina has carried out at the request of the Argentine Episcopal Conference. This monumental work that involved more than thirty authors and required five years of work, has its history and is presented as a challenging and complex text. The central theme revolves around the Catholic Church in the spiral of violence in Argentina between 1966 and 1983. The sensitivity caused by this tragic stage in Argentine history, in which so many people have died, victims of the actions of guerrilla groups such as of State Terrorism systematically established by the Armed Forces, has had the Catholic Church, in all its levels, as one of its main actors. Although the studies on this subject are innumerable and probably incomprehensible for several decades now, the Catholic Church as an institution had and ʺleʺ owed the entire Argentine society ʺsomeʺ to take a position on the facts, through a serious, reflective study and self-critical of the place that implicated the entire Church in this spiral of violence. The declassification of the ecclesiastical Archives in various levels of government within the period studied, is one of the contributions that has enabled a critical rereading of events, institutions and people, particularly the Argentine Episcopal Conference itself. A work of this caliber and magnitude justifies an ʺapproach to readingʺ. We have tried following some options through two paths: a list of thematic axes (1-4), and a selection of guide texts (5) that serve as a stimulus to readers who may perhaps feel attracted to go through the study in more depth and Analysis of the work.
