Le Courrier de la Plata, diario de la colectividad francesa rioplatense

Abstract

Resumen: los periódicos publicados en Buenos Aires destinados a las colectividades de inmigrantes llegados a la Argentina en el siglo XIX influyeron en la conformación de las mentalidades de dichos lectores. El estudio del periódico Le Courrier de la Plata está íntimamente relacionado con la inmigración francesa. Como señala el demógrafo Hernán Otero117, Francia ocupó el primer lugar como modelo cultural e intelectual de las clases dirigentes rioplatenses, en la Argentina el segundo lugar después de Gran Bretaña conrespecto a inversiones de capital, y el tercero en cantidad de inmigrantes después de italianos y españoles. En el presente artículo son contemplados los siguientes aspectos: el contexto en el que se desarrolló este periódico, quién lo dirigió y quiénes trabajaron en él, la circulación y difusión del mismo y los principales temas tratados.

Abstract: the newspapers published in Buenos Aires for the collectivities of immigrants arrived to Argentina at the XIX century, have had an active influence on the migratory groups mentalities. The study of Le Courrier de la Plata is intimately related with the French migration. As the demographer Hernán Otero118 mentions in his works dedicated to French immigration, France occupied the first place as cultural and intellectual model for the River Plate leader classes during that period; the second after Great Britain for capital investments; and the third in population terms after Italian and Spanish immigrants. The study contemplates the following aspects: the context in which this newspaper developed, who directed it and worked in it, the circulation and diffusion of the Courrier, as well as the principal subjects treated on it.
