Sexting en adolescentes de Mendoza : estudio exploratorio

Abstract

Resumen: El fenómeno denominado sexting, implica el intercambio virtual de imágenes o videos sexuales propios. Se asocia a diversas problemáticas, como conductas sexuales de riesgo y ciberbullying. También es considerado como un habitual comportamiento de intercambios entre adolescentes. Ha comenzado a indagarse el fenómeno en jóvenes debido al aumento de exposición y los riesgos que ello conlleva. Pero existen escasos estudios en adolescentes de menor edad. Objetivos del estudio: explorar la realización de sexting en adolescentes de Mendoza y las características del fenómeno según edad, género y estado sentimental de los adolescentes. Participantes: 283 adolescentes de 13 a 18 años, estudiantes de escuelas secundarias de gestión pública. Los resultados mostraron que las frecuencias de envío de fotos o videos sexuales propios, oscila entre el 25% y 38%. En el análisis por edad, los/las adolescentes mayores (17 y 18 años) mostraron mayor frecuencia en el envío de fotos o videos propios y la diferencia con los otros grupos de edad fue significativa. La misma diferencia se observó en la subida a internet de este material. En la comparación por género, las mujeres presentaron mayor porcentaje en la acción de compartir fotos o videos propios y la diferencia con los hombres fue significativa.

Abstract: The phenomenon called sexting, involves the virtual exchange of images or own sexual videos. It is associated with various problems, such as risky sexual behavior and cyberbullying. It is also considered as a regular virtual photo sharing between adolescents. Sexting is being investigated in young people due to the increase in exposure and the risks that this implies. But there are few studies in younger adolescents. Goals: to explore the performance of sexting in adolescents from Mendoza and the features of the phenomenon according to age, gender and sentimental state of the adolescents. Sample: 283 adolescents from 13 to 18 years old, students from public secondary schools. Results showed that the frequency of sending their own sexual photos or videos ranges between 25% and 38%. In the analysis by age, older adolescents (17 and 18 years old) review more frequently when sending their own photos or videos and the difference with the other age groups was significant. The same difference is recorded in the uploading of this material to the Internet. In the comparison by gender, women showed a higher percent in the action of sharing their own photos or videos and the difference with men was significant.
