Origen y evolución de las Cámaras Federales de Apelaciones en la República Argentina

Abstract

Resumen: Ni en la Constitución ni en los primeros estatutos sobre la organización del Poder Judicial de la Nación en Argentina existían Tribunales Federales de Apelaciones. Durante casi cinco décadas, el poder judicial federal estuvo a cargo de tribunales unipersonales y de la Corte Suprema. Este artículo explora por qué no fue hasta 1902 que se crearon las cámaras de apelación y cómo han evolucionado durante el último siglo, hasta llegar a su estructura actual: tribunales colegiados con salas que resuelven casos simultáneamente.

Abstract: Federal Courts of Appeals did not exist neither in the Constitution nor in the first statutes regarding the organization of the National Judicial branch in Argentina. For almost five decades, federal judicial power was handled by single judges tribunals and the Supreme Court. This article explores why it was not until 1902 that courts of appeals were created and how they have evolved during the last century, until they reached their actual structure: collegiate courts with panels that solve cases simultaneously.
