La propuesta de Laudato si' que la crisis del Covid-19 permite redescubrir : a cinco años de la publicación de la encíclica, la vigencia de LS 175

Abstract

Resumen: En este tiempo de crisis de la pandemia del Covid-19 el Papa Francisco interpela especialmente a los Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno. Resulta interesante entonces redescubrir la propuesta que el Pontífice hacía en Laudato si' 175, referida a la necesidad de «instituciones internacionales más fuertes y eficazmente organizadas», y a la «importancia inédita» de la «diplomacia». En este artículo nos preguntamos: ¿por qué ese señalamiento tiene especial vigencia? La respuesta que intentamos brindar es que habiendo transcurrido cinco años de la publicación de dicha encíclica, redescubrir, releer y sobre todo poner en práctica ese pedido de Francisco, pondría al sistema internacional en mejores condiciones para hacer posible la vida humana en la post pandemia, puesto que ciertamente, «nadie se salva solo». El artículo se estructura según este itinerario: primero, abordamos la inserción internacional de la Santa Sede; segundo, referimos la noción que tiene el Papa de la diplomacia en general y del servicio diplomático pontificio en particular; tercero, nos detenemos en señalamientos de Laudato si' 175; y cuarto, hacemos unas reflexiones finales, centradas en que Francisco testimonia, pese a la crisis, que un nuevo sistema internacional es posible.

Abstract: In this time of crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic, Pope Francis especially questions the Heads of State and Government. It is interesting then to rediscover the proposal that the Pontiff made in Laudato si' 175, referring to the need for «stronger and more effectively organized international institutions», and the «unprecedented importance» of «diplomacy». In this article we ask ourselves: why is this statement particularly valid? The answer that we are trying to provide is that having passed five years after the publication of said encyclical, rediscovering, rereading, and above all putting into practice that request of Francis, would put the international system in better conditions to make human life possible in the post pandemic, since certainly, «no one is saved alone». The article is structured according to this itinerary: first, we address the international insertion of the Holy See; second, we refer to the Pope's notion of diplomacy in general and of the papal diplomatic service in particular; third, we stop at signs of Laudato si' 175; and fourth, we make some final reflections, focused on the fact that Francis testifies, despite the crisis, that a new international system is possible.
