Su hermenéutica surge de la fe en la Providencia que conduce la historia, de la presencia maternal de María de Luján y de las vicisitudes del Pueblo de Dios. El ensayo parte de la novedad del estudio de la historia del Pueblo de Dios en América Latina, resume la historiografía de la Iglesia católica en Argentina y estudia la historia del catolicismo argentino contemporáneo. Desde allí, en una segunda fase, se presentan las distintas miradas sobre la Iglesia y se sitúa el conocimiento teologal de su historia según el Concilio Vaticano II. En un tercer paso se analiza el estatuto científico de la historia de la Iglesia como historia y como teología, a la vez que se propone un horizonte superador entre las dos perspectivas llamadas confesional y laica; también se destaca la forma mentis del historiador que procede científicamente en el seno de la fe en la Providencia de Dios.; Abstract: The article highlights the historical work of Father Juan Guillermo Durán that combines the rigorous scientific investigation of history with the reading of his figures and events according to the Catholic tradition. His hermeneutics arises from faith in Providence that guides history, from the maternal presence of María de Luján and from the events of the Church. The essay starts from the novelty of the study of the history of the People of God in Latin America, summarizes the historiography of the Catholic Church in Argentina and studies the history of contemporary Argentine Catholicism is studied. From there, in a second phase, the different perspectives on the Church are presented and the theological knowledge of its history according to the Second Vatican is situated. In a third step, the article considers the scientific status of the history of the Church as history and as theology, while an overcoming horizon is proposed between the two perspectives called confessional and secular. The forma mentis of the historian who proceeds scientifically within the faith in God’s Providence is also highlighted. Without pretending to cover an immense theme, it proposes four spaces to record the peculiarity of a method that takes history as a decisive theological place when discovering the traces, languages and faces of God. In addition to the known liberation theology and school of people’s theology, it offers some significant aspects of the new challenges offered by indigenous and Latino migrant theologies.
