La edición que ahora nos ocupa es el resultado del esfuerzo de varios académicos que, durante sus años de investigación, se propusieron editar esta valiosa obra. Hay que mencionar por ello la iniciativa de Enrique Barba, decano de la Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación de La Plata, quien en 1959 dio el primer impulso.
