Indian Economics was developed in América as a result of three philosophical-economical schools: the late Scholasticism, Mercantilism and the Classical School, with the predominance of the first. Salamanca, cradle of the second Scholasticism, was the institutional model of the Indian Economics that irradiated regulations that contributed to the social and cultural maturing of America. Díaz demonstrates, with historical foundations, the Schumpeterian thesis that postulates that the late Scholastics have been the founders of scientific Economy, and that a considerable part of the XIX century economy could have been developed from these bases in an easier way and with less effort than what it actually entailed.2011-01-01T00:00:00ZThe question of ethical decision in marketing and ethics

Título : The question of ethical decision in marketing and ethics
Autor : Jamnik, Anton
While marketing is associated with negative practices that involve exploitation and dishonesty, Anton Jamnik states the need for creating an ethical theory for it.
This article’s central subject is the importance of the intervention of the Church in social-economic issues. The author starts from two questions: the reason why the Social Doctrine of the Church was established only by the end of the XIX century and not before, and the reasons that led to the breakdown between the Social Doctrine of the Church and the prevailing economic theory. To give an answer to these points, Pasinetti dates back to the origin of Christianity, and makes a historical analysis of the development of economic theory until the proclamation of the Rerum Novarum encyclical in 1891. The author explains that this doctrinal corpus came up from three historical events: the Industrial Revolution, the impact of Karl Marx’s work, and the failure in formulating an economic theory able to solve the problems of a new world. The Social Doctrine of the Church, therefore, is meant to overcome these difficulties because it possesses the tools required to achieve this task.2011-01-01T00:00:00ZInteractions between reflection and praxis in the history of economic thought : the case of the franciscan circles from XIII century Assisi to the present

Título : Interactions between reflection and praxis in the history of economic thought : the case of the franciscan circles from XIII century Assisi to the present
Autor : Parisi, Daniela
By referring in particular to the attention given in Franciscan circles to the signs of times, the author draws the path from Saint Francis’s life to the life of the Order until the present, and reveals the origins of the Franciscan movement as an attempt for social and religious reformation. First, the article presents St. Francis’s life of a “voluntary material poverty” in the context of the social and economic changes that took place in the XIII century, with the rise of the commercial society. Then, the author explains how St. Francis’ proposal grew into an Order. Finally, the article aims at illuminating the aspects in which the Franciscan Order can be still considered a sign of the times by living the commitment to poverty and minority, eliminating the superfluous from our lives and living close to the Gospel.2011-01-01T00:00:00Z
